COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Metropolitan Library announced that construction for the new Linden branch is delayed due to "unforeseen circumstances."
The current branch at 2223 Cleveland Ave. was originally slated to close at 6 p.m. on Feb. 17, but the construction was delayed. The library did not provide additional details on when the new date for the closure will be or what caused the delay.
CML has plans to open a temporary Linden branch at 1990 Jefferson Ave. next to the Linmoor Education Center when the Linden branch undergoes construction.
CML said the temporary location will only have high-interest book titles as the collection size will be reduced.
The current Linden Branch was built in 2004. The new branch, set to open in 2025, will have two levels and will be more than double the size of the current building with 27,000 square feet.
A new date for the wallbreaking ceremony will be announced in the future, according to the library.
