COLUMBUS, Ohio — A 20-year-old Columbus man was sentenced Thursday to 29 years to life in prison for a deadly shooting in southeast Franklin County over a year and a half ago, according to Prosecuting Attorney Gary Tyack.

Justus Robertson was found guilty of all charges on Jan. 26, including two counts of murder, aggravated murder, two counts of felonious assault, aggravated robbery and improper discharge into a habitation.

Deputies were dispatched to the Cross-Key Apartments on Chatterton Road on July 7, 2022, for reports of shots fired in the area.

The prosecutor's office said after a dispute resulted in the theft of guns and drugs, Robertson engaged in a gunfight with three others. The gunfire hit multiple victims.

Christopher Roberts Jr. was found in the stairwell landing of the apartment building with a gunshot wound in his upper body.

He was taken to Mount Carmel East Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The gunfire also hit a home in the area where a mother and her 3-year-old were watching television. Neither was hit.

A second suspect in the shooting, Xavier Colvin, has also been charged with murder in the case.
