COLUMBUS, Ohio — A 48-year-old Columbus man is charged with raping a 12-year-old girl two years ago, according to Franklin County Municipal Court documents.
Records say that the alleged sexual assault happened between Dec. 28 and Dec. 30, 2021 in Prairie Township. The complaint charges Brent Copley with engaging in sexual conduct with the girl.
A forensic interview was conducted on Dec. 11, 2023 at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Child Assessment Center where the girl disclosed details of the alleged rape. The girl reported that Copley said he would kill her and her family if she told anyone about the incident, according to an affidavit.
Copley has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Jan. 12 at 9 a.m. His bond is set at $500,000.
