A Columbus man has been arrested after leading police in a high-speed pursuit on Sunday, July 12.

According to the Plain City Police Department, an officer observed a landscaping truck, being driven by 35-year-old Corey Castle, traveling at a high rate of speed on South Chillicothe Street and attempted to stop the vehicle.

Castle led officers on a pursuit through Union and Madison counties at speeds over 80 MPH.

Police say Castle tried to hit a deputy who was deploying stop sticks near SR 38 and US 29 to stop the vehicle.

The truck was forced onto the Ohio State Molly Caren Agricultural Center property in London where Castle drove across the property and crashed through a fence and entered Interstate 70.

Police say Castle then crashed into a semi and into a ditch, where he got out of the vehicle and ran. He was found a short time later. Nobody was injured during the pursuit.

Police said Castle broke into a landscaping business in Hilliard and stole the truck and trailer after loading it with equipment and tools.

Some of the equipment fell off the trailer during the pursuit but it is believed most was recovered and returned.

Castle is being held at the Tri-County Regional Jail on charges of failure to comply and various traffic-related charges.

Police said other felony charges are being considered by the prosecutor’s office.

Castle is also on federal probation after being convicted of theft of firearms.
