WHITEHALL, Ohio — A Columbus man was arrested and charged with rape after an incident in Whitehall on Friday, court records say.
Franklin County Municipal Court records state that Alberto Mireles-Salazar allegedly raped a woman in the 900 block of South Hamilton Road in Whitehall Friday afternoon.
The address listed in court records comes back to a Planet Fitness. Whitehall Division of Police said officers were called to the parking lot near the gym, but the incident did not involve the Planet Fitness establishment.
A spokesperson for the gym said that the alleged incident did not take place inside the Planet Fitness. The spokesperson said in part, "The local franchise owner has been in contact with police."
Records state that Mireles-Salazar also threatened to kill the woman before the incident.
He appeared in court Saturday and remains in custody. His preliminary hearing is on Feb. 12.
