COLUMBUS, Ohio — A man and a woman were critically injured after a fire broke out at a home in the Franklinton neighborhood Thursday morning, according to the Columbus Division of Fire.

Crews were called to the 300 block of South Yale Avenue near Sullivant Avenue sometime around 3:20 a.m. The caller told dispatchers that flames could be seen through the window and said no one lived at the location.

The battalion chief at the scene told 10TV that a man and woman were found unconscious inside a front room. They were rescued and taken to nearby hospitals in critical condition.

Investigators suspect that the fire may have started in the living room and extended into the second floor. An investigation into the cause is still ongoing.
