25-year-old man charged with murder in northeast Columbus shooting

The shooting happened around 2:45 p.m. in the 4200 block of Cleveland Avenue, just south of Morse Road.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A 25-year-old man was charged with murder in a shooting that left another man dead in northeast Columbus earlier this week.

The shooting happened Monday afternoon inside an apartment complex in the 4200 block of Cleveland Avenue, just south of Morse Road. 

The Columbus Division of Police said 28-year-old Cordell Tatney visiting a friend when he was shot by 25-year-old Deontae Daniel. Tatney was taken to Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center where he later died.

Police say they were two young children less than 2 years old who were in the apartment when the shooting took place. No one else was reported injured.

Authorities are asking anyone who knows where Daniel is to contact police.
