PICKAWAY COUNTY, Ohio — A 40-year-old man from Circleville died Thursday after he reportedly drove off the road and struck a tree head-on, according to the Pickaway County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office received a report around noon of a single-vehicle crash and vehicle fire in the 7100 block of Darby Road in Circleville. When deputies arrived on the scene, they found a gray Chevrolet in the middle of the road fully engulfed in flames.

An investigation revealed that the Chevrolet was heading westbound on Darby Road when it went off the road to the left. The vehicle then grazed a tree and struck another tree head-on before authorities said it bounced off the tree and landed back in the middle of the road.

Scioto Township Fire Department pronounced the driver of the vehicle dead at 12:07 p.m. He was taken to the Montgomery County Coroner's Office and later identified as Bradley Winstead.

The crash remains under investigation.
