COLUMBUS, Ohio — Neighbors in Italian Village woke up to another rash of car break-ins on Saturday morning.
Columbus police took at least ten reports of break-ins at The Lusso Apartments in Italian Village and the Station 324 apartments. Officers found more cars with damage and expect there to be more victims.
One of those cars belonged to Amanda, who told 10TV about her frustration.
“I just think that of course instances like this are alarming. It definitely shakes your sense of security,” she said.
She is stuck paying a $500 bill to repair her windows.
She said the thieves took some old credit cards and paperwork. She parked under a light, kept her doors locked and feels like there is not much more she could have done to avoid being a victim.
“I definitely did what I think every civilian could do, which is keep your car locked and make sure no valuable belongings are in the car,” she said.
The Lusso Apartments sent a letter to residents notifying them of the break-ins at the property and surrounding area, including hotels. The letter reminds residents not to keep valuables inside cars.
Amanda said she would like to see more security at the property.
“These kinds of incidents are reported frequently across the city, as many know, but it definitely becomes more personal when you become a victim yourself,” she said.
Police did not provide any information on a possible suspect in the break-ins.
10TV reached out to The Lusso Apartments for comment but has not heard back.
