Police: 2-year-old boy seriously injured in southeast Columbus drive-by shooting

Officers were called on a report of a shooting in the 4000 block of Carlton Avenue just before 9 p.m.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A 2-year-old boy was seriously injured during a drive-by shooting on the city's southeast side Sunday evening, according to the Columbus Division of Police.

Officers were called on a report of a shooting in the 4000 block of Carlton Avenue just before 9 p.m.

The boy was taken to Nationwide Children's Hospital in critical condition.

Sgt. Joseph Albert said this was a drive-by shooting and the suspect vehicle is described as a grey or silver four-door sedan.

There is no suspect information at this time.

Albert is urging the person or people involved to "do the right thing." 

"This is a 2-year-old little boy who did not deserve this for anything," he said.

The Homicide Unit is investigating the shooting due to the severity of the boy's injuries.
