Bond set for man charged in southeast Columbus deadly shooting

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A judge set bond at $1 million for a 19-year-old man charged in a shooting that left one man dead and another person injured in southeast Columbus on Wednesday.

Deaire Summerall was arrested by members of the Columbus police SWAT team. He was charged with murder and felonious assault. 

Officers with the Columbus Division of Police were called on a report of a shooting in the 1400 block of Burstock Road, located in the Deshler Park neighborhood, just before 8:25 p.m. 

According to Franklin Count Municipal Court documents, arriving officers found a black Acura slowly rolling down the middle of the street. 

Officers found one person dead in the middle of the street. Police identified the person as 33-year-old Larry Yantis III. A second victim who was found laying near a curb told police that "Deaire shot me." The second victim was taken to Grant Medical Center in critical condition.

The judge ordered Summerall to stay away from the victim's family, no further acts of violence, no possession of weapons/firearms and no drugs/alcohol. He is scheduled to appear in court again on Oct. 4.
