COLUMBUS, Ohio — The husband of a woman who was raped and killed at a north Columbus hotel last week spoke in court Monday.
“Your honor, you’re looking at a 69-year-old man with a completely shattered American dream,” Alex Huang told Franklin County Municipal Court Judge Eileen Paley.
Huang and his wife, 61-year-old Li-Chu Lin, owned and operated the Double Ten Hotel together in Columbus since about 2017.
For the first time since his wife’s death on April 26, Huang saw the man accused of killing his wife, 36-year-old Arthur Scott Jr.
Scott was released from prison in October for an abduction out of Cuyahoga County. Now, he’s charged with murder, rape and kidnapping in connection to Lin’s death.

Court documents say that officers with the Columbus Division of Police were called to the hotel on a report of a woman who was found dead. When officers arrived, they found Lin who had injuries from a "brutal attack."
According to court documents, investigators obtained video from the hotel showing Scott walking down the hallway checking for unlocked doors. He then entered a room and Lin entered the same room shortly afterward. Scott was seen on video leaving the room a short time later.
Lin was found naked inside the room with apparent physical injuries. Detectives found evidence that other crimes, including rape, had occurred.
Scott was found within a short distance of the hotel and was taken into custody on Saturday. While being questioned, court records state that he admitted to Lin's murder and other crimes.
Huang pleaded with the judge to lock Scott away.
“Looking at my wife's twisted body, her final moment of her life, you would know how brutal the attack was,” Huang said in court.
The case and the husband’s plea hit a nerve with Paley.
“I have to say, in the period I've been on the bench, and I'm about to cry, I don't think I've seen anything this hideous,” the judge said during the hearing.
Scott was issued a $2 million bond.
