Police: 5-year-old injured in west Columbus hit-and-run

Police said the boy’s leg was hurt. He was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital and is expected to be OK.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A 5-year-old boy is hurt after he was hit by a vehicle on the city’s west side Saturday afternoon, according to the Columbus Division of Police.

Officers were called to the 160 block of South Cypress Avenue in Franklinton around 12:10 p.m. for a report of a pedestrian being struck.

Police said the boy’s leg was hurt. He was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital and is expected to be OK.

The driver did not remain at the scene. Police described their vehicle as a gray pickup.

Earlier this week, another pedestrian was injured after being hit near the intersection of West Mound Street and South Cypress Avenue. The driver did not stay at the scene. Police described the vehicle as a silver Ford.
