Police: Body found by railroad tracks in south Columbus last July ruled a homicide

On Dec. 28, the coroner’s office completed its investigation and ruled the cause of death as blunt force trauma.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Division of Police is investigating the death of a woman whose body was discovered near railroad tracks in south Columbus last July.

Officers were called to the 30 block of West Hinman Avenue on July 23, 2023 after someone discovered skeletal remains near the railroad tracks. After further investigation, the Franklin County Coroner’s Office identified the woman as 35-year-old Latonya Green.

On Dec. 28, the coroner’s office completed its investigation into her death and ruled the cause of death as blunt force trauma, and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.

The death remains under investigation.
