BROWN COUNTY, Ohio — A homicide investigation conducted by the Columbus Division of Police led to the discovery of a woman’s body at a southern Ohio landfill on Wednesday morning.
The woman was found by officers at a Rumpke landfill in Brown County, Columbus police Lt. Wayde Spears told WCPO in Cincinnati. The homicide unit is now investigating.
Amanda Pratt, a spokesperson for Rumpke, told WCPO that Rumpke was alerted to a possible body in the landfill and was assisting in the investigation. Pratt said that police were searching the landfill for several weeks.
The identity of the woman has not yet been released. Details of what caused her death have not been released.
Columbus police will be holding a press conference Thursday to share details of the investigation.
