Police: Body found at abandoned car wash in southwest Columbus

Police said a cause of death will likely not be determined until an autopsy is complete.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Police are investigating a potential suspicious death after a body was found at a car wash in southwest Columbus Wednesday night.

Around 10:45 p.m. officers with the Columbus Division of Police were called to an abandoned car wash in the 1500 block of Holt Road near Georgesville Road on a report of a body being found.

Police found a male’s body inside one of the car wash bays.

The Franklin County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and requested homicide detectives take over due to the level of decomposition on the male’s body, according to Columbus Police Sgt. Joe Albert.

The body has not been identified. Albert said a cause of death will likely not be determined until an autopsy is complete.
