BEXLEY, Ohio — Two teen girls are in custody after the stolen vehicle they were in crashed into Bexley and Columbus police cruisers and another vehicle Tuesday morning, according to the Bexley Police Department.
Officers with the Columbus Division of Police responded to a 911 call from someone who was a relative of the stolen vehicle’s owner. The caller told police that they had been following the Toyota Highlander, which was taken from outside a home in South Linden.
Bexley police said a woman had been warming up her vehicle when the theft occurred.
Columbus officers attempted to stop the Toyota. The driver then allegedly sideswiped the Columbus police cruiser and hit the back of a Chevy Equinox that was nearby.
When the driver of the stolen vehicle was unable to get away, they reportedly put the car in reverse and hit a Bexley cruiser in the bumper.
No injuries were reported.
Police said a 13-year-old girl was driving the stolen SUV. Her and another 16-year-old girl are now in police custody.
