Authorities identify family of four found dead in Genoa Township home

Authorities have identified four family members found dead inside their Genoa Township home Thursday.

Authorities have identified four family members found dead inside their Genoa Township home Thursday.

Genoa Township officials say 50-year-old Richard Gabriel Reitter III, his wife Jennifer Reitter, 49, and their two kids Richard Gabriel Reitter IIII, 15, and Grace Reitter, 13, along with their 3 dogs were found inside their home Thursday afternoon.

Police and fire departments responded to the home on Lewis Center Road after a relative called 911.

The relative told them they hadn't been able to contact the family in several days and some of them complained of being sick.

First responders said they encountered an elevated level of carbon monoxide when they entered the home. Officials said there were no carbon monoxide detectors in the home.

The cause of death is still under investigation.

The Genoa Township community issued a statement saying: “The community is saddened by this tragic loss and will grieve the deaths of the four family members.”
