COLUMBUS, Ohio – Anthony Pardon was sentenced on Monday for the murder and rape of Rachael Anderson.
Judge Stephen McIntosh sentenced Pardon to two life sentences on the aggravated murder and rape charges.
Pardon, 55, was also sentenced to 63 years in prison on the aggravated burglary, kidnapping , and aggravated robbery charges and repeat violent offender specifications.
The sentence does not carry the possibility of parole and will be served consecutively.
A jury recommended life without the possibility of parole for Pardon last month after being convicted in the 2018 kidnapping, rape, and murder of Anderson.
Pardon’s attorney said last month he will not appeal the jury’s decision but his client might. If that happens, he will not be part of the appeal.
Isabella Dixon, one of Pardon's attorneys, believes the jury voted to give him a life sentence because of his childhood.
“This is someone who was institutionalized who had never had any guidance who had not shown love what we see here is extreme physical neglect and extreme emotional neglect,” she said.
Pardon has an extensive criminal history – including being convicted as a juvenile for the rape of a 9-month-old boy, court records show.
In 1982, Pardon was convicted of attempted murder and rape involving the mother of a high school classmate. He spent nearly 25 years in an Ohio prison for that case.
When he got out and moved to Georgia, Pardon was later convicted of forgery and failing to register as a sex offender.
He spent another nine years in a Georgia prison before returning to Ohio in the Spring of 2017.
