COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio’s first American Girl store has announced that it will officially be shutting its doors at Easton Town Center.
The store's Easton opening in 2013 was highly anticipated by many Ohioans who ordered American Girl items by catalog, online or by driving to the nearest store, which is in Chicago. The opening week brought thousands to Fenlon Square.
The official closing date is Feb. 19, and as a departure gift, the store will be offering 30% off storewide and 50% off on books.
American Girl Columbus served not only as a storefront for its famous dolls, books and accessories, but also as a place for children to go for birthday parties, tea parties and salon services.
The 18-inch dolls are priced around $115 with Bitty Babies averaging around $99. American Girl items can still be purchased through its website after the Feb. 19 closure.

10TV reached out to Mattel, the owner of American Girl, for more information on the closure.
According to the company, the decision to close the Columbus store came as the brand is optimizing their store portfolio to meet business objectives and evolve with consumer shopping behavior in a challenging retail environment.
Their emailed statement read in part:
"It’s been our privilege to serve this wonderful community for more than a decade. We thank our loyal customers in the Ohio area for their patronage and look forward to continuing our valued relationship with them at one of our other American Girl retail locations or at our largest digital flagship at americangirl.com."
