COLUMBUS, Ohio - A Columbus venue where four people were killed in a shooting in 2004 has been listed for sale.
Alrosa Villa is being listed for the asking price of $1,295,000, according to the website Best Corporate Real Estate.
The venue's owner also confirmed the news to 10TV.
The club, located on Sinclair Road, has two bars, a dance floor, stage and dressing room, and covers about 7.2 acres. A liquor license and equipment are also included in the sale.
Alrosa Villa was the site of a December 2004 shooting that left four people dead, including legendary guitarist “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott.
Some witnesses say the gunman, 25-year-old Nathan Gale of Marysville, was distraught over the breakup of the heavy metal band Pantera. However, police never verified those reports and the true motive will likely never be known, because Gale was shot and killed by Columbus police officer Jim Niggemeyer.
Around 10:20 p.m. on December 8, 2004, Niggemeyer entered through a back door at the Alrosa Villa armed with a shotgun. “He put the gun up to the hostage’s head and I just stopped where I was and shot him,” Niggemeyer explained in an interview with 10TV's Kevin Landers more than 10 years after the carnage.
The other people killed in the shooting were Nathan Bray, a Grove City husband and father who was in the audience, Damageplan security guard Jeff “Mayhem” Thompson, and club employee Erin Halk.
Halk was an Upper Arlington High School graduate. According to witnesses, Halk charged at Gale as he reloaded his 9-millimeter semi-automatic handgun.
