CLEBURNE COUNTY, Ala. — Alabama authorities provided more information on Monday about a body found over the weekend that is believed to be that of a missing Marysville, Ohio woman.
According to Cleburne County Chief Deputy Patrick Nolen, the body assumed to be that of Vendula “Wendy” Rose was found Saturday by a hunter in the area of Cheaha State Park.
The body was found about five miles from where Rose's car was located in early October. She was found in a hammock-style tent in a secluded area away from paths and trails.
“We still have a lot of puzzle flip pieces that we're trying to put together,” said Nolen. “We're five road miles from where the vehicle was. We're half a mile off the Highway 281 and we're three miles from the actual Pinhoti Trail.”
Rose was reported missing to Marysville Police on Oct. 3. Searches for Rose started in Cleburne County on Oct. 6 after she visited the area for a camping trip and didn't return home.
Those searches included searches on foot with dogs and overhead with planes.
When deputies were led to the campsite by the hunter, they found Rose’s ID and other identifying objects at her camp. However, her body is being sent to Huntsville, Alabama for a positive identification and cause of death.
At this time, authorities said there’s nothing to indicate any foul play involved. They’re also looking into the possibility that she didn’t want to be found due to where her camp was.
“You know, that has been a question to us. However, without knowing her, without talking to her, knowing what her intention was, we could not be able to confirm or deny that,” said Nolen.
