Scott comes to 10TV for what he calls the dream gig – anchoring the news AND covering politics. He’s done both in several previous TV stops but Ohio is a whole different political animal.
Scott comes to Columbus after anchoring the evening news in Atlanta and landing exclusive interviews with the likes of President Jimmy Carter and ‘Dean of the Civil Rights Movement’ Dr. Joseph Lowery. He was honored with his sixth Emmy award in Atlanta in June 2015.
Before Atlanta, he anchored the news in Phoenix for a decade and also covered everything from desert wildfires to politics. He lived in China for nearly a month in 2008 anchoring his morning show daily from Beijing. While in Phoenix, Scott was honored with five Emmy awards and the Arizona Associated Press 'Anchor of the Year' award. Before Phoenix, he worked in Raleigh, North Carolina and again got to travel the country and the world. He did extensive reporting on the military and traveled to the Persian Gulf for a special series of stories on the U.S. Navy. He also reported from the Pentagon on 9/11 and spent three weeks covering the presidential recount in Florida in 2000.
Scott feels at home already at WBNS because he worked with 10TV’s morning anchors years ago. He and Jeff Hogan worked together in Richmond, Virginia and Scott and Angela An worked together in Salt Lake City.
Along with a passion for news, Scott is passionate about serving the community. He’s volunteered his time at many schools and various non-profits including the YMCA, United Blood Services, Phoenix Suns Charities and Susan G. Komen for the Cure. He'll certainly continue that tradition of service in Columbus.
Scott and his wife, Julie, have two boys and they enjoy any and everything outdoors: hiking, camping and boating. The whole family, kids included, are also certified scuba divers. Scott's an avid reader, loves to travel and he and Julie love to cook and entertain. The whole Light family is thrilled to join the 10TV family!
