911 calls detail moments after 17-year-old boy was shot at southwest Columbus gas station

Police say the shooting stems from a road rage incident and the two involved did not know each other.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Several 911 calls that were made following a deadly shooting outside a southwest Columbus gas station Tuesday evening detail the aftermath of the incident that left a 17-year-old boy dead.

Officers were called to the United Dairy Farmers gas station at 3535 Clime Rd. just after 8:10 p.m. where they found Gage Anderson suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was taken to Grant Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 8:40 p.m.

911 calls provided by the Columbus police public records unit detail the direct aftermath, including calls for help from Anderson's father, a witness near the gas station and a COTA bus driver who said it happened "right there in front of [him]."

"My son just got shot," the boy's father told the 911 dispatcher. "The guy just pulled in and shot him."

The dispatcher proceeded to ask the man about the suspect and what vehicle they were driving.

"It was a Kia, a black Kia," the caller said.

Another caller contacted 911 and said that she was at a red light near the UDF when the shooting occurred.

"I saw what looked like somebody was about to lunge at somebody else... I just heard a popping sound, like a gunshot and I saw another person fall onto the ground," the caller said.

A third caller, who said he was driving a COTA bus in the area at the time of the shooting, detailed what he saw.

"Basically it was right there in front of me," he said. "I don't know what the camera may have picked up, but I have to believe it picked up something."

He went on to tell the dispatcher that shortly before the shooting, he saw a car "driving kind of funny," causing the bus to almost hit that car.

"A couple blocks down the street, I believe I saw the same car I almost hit again," he said.

The caller said that when his bus turned onto Clime Road and drove past UDF, he heard the gunshots.

"I looked over, I seen a body on the ground," he said. "When it happened, I looked down at my clock just in case something came about because I seen the body."

Columbus police have identified the suspect as 30-year-old Skyler Burley and charged him with Anderson's murder.

Police say the shooting stems from a road rage incident and the two involved did not know each other.
