43-year-old man dead after shooting in southeast Columbus

The incident started in or near a barbershop in the 1600 block of Livingston Avenue Saturday and spilled into the back yard according to police.

COLUMBUS - A man has died after being shot in southeast Columbus, according to police.

"Oh my God, it was devastating," said a woman who did not want to be identified, but witnessed the victim just after the shooting.

The incident started inside Totally Different Barber Spa in the 1600 block of Livingston Avenue Saturday. Investigators say an argument between the victim and the suspect spilled into the back yard of the business. According to police, 43-year old Damon Jenkins was shot several times and ended up at the market across the street.

"We seen a man running out of the barbershop, running across the street holding his left leg," said the woman's son who also saw the victim.

A call for help was made around 1:38 p.m.

"He was shaking and his arm was shaking so bad and he was trying to like grab for my son," she said.

Jenkins was pronounced dead at 2:08 p.m. at Grant Medical Center.

"I recognized the man. It was my best friend's dad," said the son.

Family members on the scene told 10TV that Jenkins owned the barbershop.

Columbus Police charged 36-year old Lamar D. Reynolds with his murder. Family members told 10TV Reynolds was an employee at the establishment.

Police are continuing to investigate a motive.

Reynolds was arraigned in Franklin County Municipal Court Monday and given a $500,000 bond. His preliminary hearing will be Oct. 6.
