43 indicted for roles in drug trafficking ring in Mansfield area

Forty-three people face charges for allegedly participating in two separate conspiracies to sell drugs In the Mansfield area, the U.S. Department of Justice announced Thursday. Forty of those accused are from the Mansfield area or nearby and three are from Detroit.

In the first case, the indictment says 23 people were involved in an operation from January 2016 to the present that included obtaining heroin, fentanyl, oxycodone and marijuana from suppliers in Detroit and Mansfield, where those drugs were then sold in Mansfield. The indictment also says 14 firearms were seized as part of the investigation. Of those indicted in this case, the Department of Justice identified 43-year-old Noel Mott as the ring leader.

In the second case, the indictment says the remaining 20 people indicted allegedly conspired together between 2015 and the present to obtain heroin, crack cocaine, cocaine and methamphetamine to sell to dealers and others in the Mansfield area. The Department of Justice identified 38-year-old Juan Westberry as the leader.

According to the indictment, members of the conspiracy operated drug houses on Rembrandt Street, Helen Avenue, Dunbilt Court, Bowman Street and West 3rd Street in Mansfield and on Eckstein Road in Crestline.

Approximately 36 others were charged with drug crimes in the Richland County Court of Common Pleas.
