DELAWARE COUNTY - The Delaware General Health District confirms three cases of Norovirus from Olentangy Orange High School.
Tests were taken by three band students who volunteered to give stool samples after becoming ill upon returning from a performance at the Peach Bowl over the holidays.
These tests looked at four communicable diseases including Norovirus and Salmonella. All tests came back positive for Norovirus.
Norovirus is extremely contagious with symptoms including nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and diarrhea.
The Ohio Department of Health says 96 people, including students, faculty and chaperones on the trip showed signs of a gastrointestinal disease while in Atlanta.
The Georgia Department of Health contacted ODH with an initial report of 50 persons being ill. Since then, 46 others began showing symptoms.
The Health District says this is a normal sickness between December and January. They encourage the community to be vigilant in preventing the spread of the illness by staying home if you are sick and practice good handwashing.
