Police: 4-month-old, 5-year-old identified as victims hit, killed by vehicle in northeast Columbus

The group reportedly stopped in the middle of the road and was struck by a Hyundai Accent that was headed northbound on Cleveland Avenue.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Division of Police has identified the two juvenile victims who died after getting hit by a car in northeast Columbus Saturday as a 4-month-old and a 5-year-old.

According to police, 4-month-old Zy’Quarious Hamilton and Zy'Yhon Scott, 5, were with an unnamed adult and juvenile who were walking across Cleveland and East 25th avenues just after 7 p.m. The group reportedly stopped in the middle of the road and was struck by a Hyundai Accent that was headed northbound on Cleveland Avenue.

All three juveniles were taken to Nationwide Children's Hospital in critical condition. Hamilton and Scott were later pronounced dead at the hospital. The other juvenile remains in critical condition.

The adult was transported to Grant Medical Center in critical condition. Police now describe their condition as "stable."

Police say the driver stayed at the scene.

The driver and passengers of the Hyundai were not injured.

Columbus Police's Accident Investigation Unit is continuing to investigate the crash.
