Neighbors said concerns are growing after two overdoses in one week at a Circle K on the south side.
The latest overdose happened Tuesday at the gas station at College Avenue and Petzinger. A man overdosed in a parked car.
Last Wednesday afternoon, another overdose, a woman in the bathroom with her small child.
“He's barely breathing, I can see his pulse, it's thinning out,” said the 911 caller. “They just splashed him with water, they tried to get him to, shake him, they're tapping his face, he's not coming to at all, he's unconscious.”
The workers at the Circle K said they've become all too familiar with the signs of an overdose. That 911 call was a man passed out in a car in the parking lot.
Last week, a woman overdosed in the bathroom, her small child with her.
“I was very picky about where I decided to live and to see it happening so often, somewhere literally right outside my door, is concerning,” Kari M. said.
Kari lives in a gated community right by the gas station. She's been a little nervous to head out on her daily runs.
“It was sort of, do I want to go too early in the morning? Do I want to go too late at night?” said Kari.
It's a busy station. One Preston Singleton frequents.
“I used to come by here all the time,” said Singleton.
An example to Singleton that the drug problem is everywhere.
“It's crazy, it's getting worse and worse,” said Singleton.
And it touches nearly everyone.
“We got family mixed in it, I used to be myself,” said Singleton.
Singleton did time and it was the wake-up call to clean up. But that's not easy to do for any addict.
“While it's obviously the person's choice for the drugs, it's the drugs making the choice for them,” said Kari.
10TV checked with Columbus Police, they've had numerous calls to the Circle K this year but it's not clear how many were overdoses.
