Police: 2 injured in northeast Columbus motorcycle crash

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Two people were hospitalized after a crash involving a motorcycle on the city’s northeast side Friday evening, according to the Columbus Division of Police.

The crash happened just before 10:20 p.m. at Karl and Schrock roads. Police say a motorcyclist was heading eastbound on Schrock Road when a Honda Accord pulled onto the roadway, turning east from Garden Terrace Road.

The two vehicles collided and the motorcyclist, as well as a passenger, were thrown from the motorcycle.

Police say the driver of the motorcycle was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital in “stable” condition. The passenger was taken to the same hospital in critical condition. Both are expected to survive their injuries.

Dispatchers initially told 10TV that officers were looking for a blue Honda Accord which was believed to have fled the scene, but police later clarified that the driver of the Honda came back shortly after the crash. They were not injured.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
