PICKAWAY COUNTY, Ohio — A 15-year-old boy and 46-year-old man are dead after a crash in southern Pickaway County on Wednesday, according to the sheriff’s office.
The two-vehicle crash happened on Kingston Adelphi Road, near state Route 159, in Pickaway Township around 7:30 p.m.
The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office says the teen, John Curtis, was driving a Hyundai eastbound with Joe Curtis in the passenger seat when he drove off the right side of the road. John reportedly overcorrected, and the vehicle went into the westbound lane of traffic.
When the Hyundai entered the other lane, it hit a Ford 350.
According to deputies, when the vehicles collided, the Hyundai went into a ditch and the Ford then came to a rest on top of it.
John and Joe were trapped in the Hyundai, the sheriff’s office said.
When first responders arrived, they extracted John from the vehicle. He was flown to Grant Medical Center and later taken to Nationwide Children’s hospital where he died three days later.
Joe was pronounced dead at the scene by medics.
The driver of the truck was treated and released at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
