ATHENS COUNTY, Ohio — Two men from Columbus reportedly connected to a drug trafficking organization were arrested and charged with multiple felonies in Athens County on Wednesday.
According to the Athens County Sheriff's Office, deputies served a warrant at a home in the 4800 block of Fox Lake Road in Athens. The search was done as part of an extended investigation into drug trafficking in the area.
Multiple people at the home were detained.
As the search in Athens was conducted, detectives with the Whitehall Police Department Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at the home of the primary suspect in Whitehall.
The sheriff's office said Whitehall detectives located drug pressing and manufacturing devices, cash, guns and additional items related to drug trafficking.
Shawn Agee, 37, and Nathaniel Weatherspoon, 47 were arrested and transported to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail.
Agee was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of fentanyl compound, aggravated possession of methamphetamine, trafficking in cocaine, trafficking in fentanyl compound and trafficking in methamphetamine.
Weatherspoon was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of fentanyl compound, aggravated possession of methamphetamine, trafficking in cocaine, trafficking in fentanyl compound and trafficking in methamphetamine.
The case will be forwarded to the Athens County Prosecutor’s Office and additional charges are expected.
