COLUMBUS, Ohio-- Two firefighters are in the hospital after a crash in downtown Wednesday evening.
According to Columbus Fire Battalion Chief Steve Martin, a medic transporting a victim to Grant Medical Center from a crash on the east side of Columbus was hit by a vehicle that ran a red light shortly before 5 p.m.
The medic's lights and sirens were on when the crash occurred at the intersection of East Broad Street and North Grant Avenue.
The victim inside the medic, 2 firefighters and the driver of the vehicle that ran the red light were taken to Grant Medical Center in stable condition.
Martin says the two firefighters were be marked "off-duty" for the rest of their shift. The ambulance is most likely totaled.
The intersection has since reopened.
