COLUMBUS, Ohio — A 19-year-old woman is dead and another person is hospitalized with serious injuries after a crash in Morrow County Thursday morning, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened on County Road 25 near County Road 170 in Harmony Township just after 7 a.m.

OSHP says Amayala Wampler, 19, was driving a Jeep Liberty northbound on County Road 170 and failed to stop at a stop sign. She was hit by a Chevrolet Traverse that was heading eastbound on County Road 25.

Wampler’s Jeep went off the road, overturned and hit a fence.

Both Wampler and the driver of the Chevrolet were flown to Grant Medical Center. Wampler was pronounced dead a day later.

The other driver suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to troopers.

The crash remains under investigation.
