DELAWARE COUNTY – A 16-year-old has been charged after an assault at Olentangy Orange High School last week.
A video surfaced on social media that captured the violent attack between two boys at school on Friday.
The video shows the victim, a 15-year-old boy, being punched in the face and slammed to the ground where he was punched several more times by a 16-year-old student before the video was cut off.
According to court records, the victim suffered a concussion.
The 16-year-old was charged with felonious assault in court Monday. He was released to his mother and will have to abide by court order of house arrest with electronic monitoring.
The student has one prior case of disorderly conduct which involved a fight with another student in 2015.
The 16-year-old has been suspended from school at least until Thursday when he will face an expulsion hearing from the school district.
The Olentangy School District issued the following statement about this incident:
"District leadership and local law enforcement are conducting a thorough investigation into this incident. The safety and security of all of our students is of utmost importance and violence of any nature is not tolerated. We will continue to be vigilant in providing a safe environment for all students, and those involved in this incident will be held accountable for their actions."
