Police: 15-year-old boy in critical condition after Hilltop shooting

It’s unclear whether the teen shot himself or if someone else shot him, according to police.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A 15-year-old boy is critically injured following a shooting in the Hilltop neighborhood early Tuesday morning, according to the Columbus Division of Police.

Officers were called to the 200 block of North Eureka Avenue just before 12:20 a.m. on a report of someone being shot outside. Dispatchers received an additional call stating that a 15-year-old boy shot himself.

Police arrived and found the teen who was shot. He told officers that someone shot him.

The teen was taken to Nationwide Children's Hospital in critical condition.

Police recovered a firearm at the scene. Investigators believe there were other people at the scene before officers left.
