13 adults, 1 juvenile charged in suspected drug ring in Athens County

Some of the charges include aggravated trafficking in drugs, theft, breaking and entering and obstructing justice.

ATHENS COUNTY, Ohio — Fourteen people in Athens County are facing charges including drug trafficking and theft following a months-long investigation by the prosecutor's office.

Thirteen adults and one juvenile were charged for drug and related crimes, the prosecutor's office said.

The suspects charged include Tesla Christman, 19, of Glouster, Reuben Kellar, 20, of Glouster, Brightin Moody, 18, of Glouster, Beth Zarley, 37, of Junction City, Tomasena Vanhorn, 35, of Glouster, Jeffrey Mersing, 25 of Glouster, Edith Miller, 23, of Chauncy, Lloyd Howard Hudnall, 41, of Pomeroy, Carley Rae Campbell, 35, of Glouster, Laura Ann Kuhne, 53, of Nelsonville, Trevor Sorrell, 30, of Athens, Traci Jackson, 23, of Trimble, Jeffrey Hammon, 43, of Glouster and a 17-year-old from Glouster.

The charges include:

  • Obstructing justice
  • Permitting drug abuse
  • Aggravated possession of drugs
  • Aggravated trafficking in drugs
  • Tampering with evidence
  • Having weapons under disability
  • Misdemeanor theft
  • Breaking and entering
  • Corrupting another with drugs
  • Theft
  • Possession of a fentanyl-related compound
  • Trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound
  • Escape

Hammon and Christman were arrested Wednesday, and Vanhorn received a $50,000 bond on Tuesday and is scheduled for an April 16 jury trial. Moody was arrested Wednesday and appeared in court Thursday. 

The 17-year-old suspect is being held in a Nelsonville residential center.
