13-year-old among 3 dead in separate northeast Columbus shootings

Three people, including a 13-year-old boy, were killed in two separate shootings Friday night, according to Columbus police.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Three people are dead after two separate shootings on the city's northeast side Friday night, according to the Columbus Division of Police.

The first shooting occurred in the 700 block of Stelzer Road just after 11:50 p.m. When officers arrived, they found three people, including two juveniles, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Medics pronounced one of the victims dead on scene. The two other juveniles were taken to a nearby hospital.

One of the victims, 13-year-old Tauron Durham, was pronounced dead just before 1 a.m. 

It is unclear what led up to the shooting. No suspect information has been released.

The second shooting happened in the 2000 block of Cornell Street, three miles from where the first occurred, just after midnight Saturday.

When officers arrived, they found 46-year-old Malik Islam suffering from a gunshot wound. 

Islam was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died. Investigators believe he was having a conversation with the suspect at the time of the shooting.
