Police: 1 seriously injured in South Linden hit-and-run

Police say that the victim was knocked back onto the west side of the road and the driver of the Buick did not stop at the scene.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A pedestrian was taken to a hospital in critical condition after a hit-and-run in South Linden Thursday evening.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, a male pedestrian was walking into the southbound lanes of Cleveland Avenue outside of a marked crosswalk at 10:36 p.m. During that time, a Buick Rendezvous heading southbound on Cleveland Avenue, approaching East 11th Avenue, struck the pedestrian.

Police say that the victim was knocked back onto the west side of the road and the driver of the Buick did not stop at the scene.

The pedestrian was taken to Grant Medical Center in critical condition.

Officers later found the Buick parked on East 19th Avenue. The driver appeared shortly after the vehicle was discovered and provided a statement to the police.
