COLUMBUS, Ohio — A woman is dead after a crash in northeast Columbus early Friday morning.
The Columbus Division of Police said the crash happened around 1:40 a.m. on Interstate 270 near State Route 161.
According to police, the driver was traveling northbound approaching state Route 161 when her vehicle left the roadway and travel down the grassy median between two guardrails before striking an overpass pillar and overturning.
Police say the woman was ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene by medics at 1:50 a.m.
The driver’s identity is being withheld pending family notification. Police said an investigation into the crash is ongoing.
This is the 19th traffic-related fatality in Columbus this year.
