OSHP: 1 dead after being struck by vehicle in Perry County

Troopers were called to state Route 345, just north of Pole Cat Road, on reports of a pedestrian struck Friday evening.

A woman is dead after being hit by a truck on state Route 345 in Perry County Friday evening, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers were called to SR 345 just north of Pole Cat Road at 7:45 p.m. following reports of a pedestrian struck.

Upon arrival, troopers found 59-year-old Marla Rowe, of New Lexington, suffering from injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

OSHP told 10TV that 30-year-old Bruce Meachem, of Zanesville, was traveling south on SR 345 in a Dodge truck when he hit Rowe, who was walking in the roadway.

The Perry County Sheriff's Office, Perry County Coroner's Office, New Lexington Fire Department and Ohio Department of Transportation assisted at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
