One person was killed another was injured after a domestic incident played out on North 21st Street in Newark Monday.
Authorities received a call around 10:46 a.m. on a potential active shooter situation on North 21st Street near Deo Drive.
Witnesses told police they saw two vehicles leaving Wal Mart on North 21st Street heading south.
Police said a woman was being chased by her boyfriend, 29-year-old Phillip Lee Parker. Both vehicles were involved in collisions with other vehicles.
An initial investigation by police said that Parker accidentally shot himself when he was involved in a collision.
Parker then exited the vehicle and fired at the victim, who was running for help from a local business. Police said the victim was struck one and at that point, Parker stumbled and fell over a curb where he later was pronounced dead.
Police said Parker was arrested back on June 28 for a domestic violence call by the same victim. He was charged with disorderly conduct.
On Sunday night, the victim had also called police stating that Parker held her at gunpoint and threatened to kill her and her family on July 21. Officers were searching for Parker to arrest him, according to police.
Police did not have an updated condition on the victim.
