Back in the spring, Crayola weeded out the color dandelion from the crayon box among its rainbow of choices.
It is being replaced with a new blue -- but Crayola asked for people's help on naming it.
Michelle Petruskevich, of Hilliard, has a keen interest in which name gets voted as the winner: Star Spangled Blue.
"I came up with probably about 30 names and the first one I submitted was 'star spangled blue,'" Petruskevich says.
Among 90,000 entries, Crayola picked her name suggestion as a top-five finalist. The other choices are Dreams Come Blue, Bluetiful, Blue Moon Bliss and Reach for the Stars.
She says she was inspired by the American flag and the National Anthem.
"True patriot," she said of herself. "I love my country. My father served in the army."
Time spent coloring with her grandson is a meaningful for Petruskevich. She wants the name of the new color to teach an important lesson.
"I think it is important that kids his age learn the meaning behind it," she says.
In her opinion, Star Spangled Blue is just what the box needs, but as voting starts to end, it is trailing the contest to Bluetiful.
Her name for the new blue in the crayon box would leave a lasting legacy.
"I want to leave something for my grandchildren," she says.
Voting ends on Aug. 31. You can vote on Crayola's website. (http://www.crayola.com/splash/promos/newcolor)
