The investigation into the death of 33-year-old Levi Dehmann prompted the Knox County Sheriff to release video of the incident between Dehmann and Deputy Chase Wright.
The video shows multiple angles from inside the jail’s processing area but there is no audio.
Dehmann was arrested for public intoxication April 21.
Once at the station, Dehmann became aggressive with the jail staff and attempted to hit the Deputy Wright in the face causing him to place Dehmann in a takedown hold.
The takedown forced Dehmann to hit his head on the tile floor. He died two days later at a hospital.
Questions surrounded the incident if the take-down was necessary or did the deputy overreact.
After viewing the video, people on the street were split on whether it was uncalled for or if Deputy Wright did what he needed to do.
The Attorney General’s Office is using its special investigation team along with its crime scene analysis experts to determine what happened into the jail.
They said their findings won’t be released until the autopsy of Dehmann is complete.
