One person is dead after a boat with nine people on board began to sink on Indian Lake.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources reports its watercraft officers received a call of a sinking boat, north of the Lakeview boat ramp, around 12:30 a.m. Sunday.
First responders with Lakeview and Joint Township Fire departments were able to get eight of the people to safety by the time ODNR watercraft officers arrived.
Officers said they then searched for the remaining victim, a 22-year-old man. They found his body two hours later. They are not releasing his identity until his relatives have been notified.
None of the people on the boat were wearing life jackets.
ODNR is continuing to investigate.
