The Honda plant in Marysville is back open after a reported bomb threat found inside the building.
The Union County Sheriff's Office was notified by Honda security officials that a threat, written in English, was found in a bathroom at the plant.
Honda officials made the decision to evacuate approximately 2,000 employees as police and fire units searched with bomb sniffing dogs.
After an extensive search and sweep of the building, no suspicious devices were found.
Authorities determined there is no threat at the facility.
The Union County Sheriff's Office said they do not believe this threat is connected with any terrorist activity.
Due to the serious nature of the threat, officials say a criminal investigation is ongoing.
Honda issued the following statement on the bomb scare:
Wednesday morning (March 30), Honda security learned of a potential bomb threat at its Marysville Auto Plant (MAP). Honda immediately notified law enforcement officials and moved quickly to assure associate safety.
As a precaution, we evacuated and dismissed associates, contractors and visitors beginning at 11:30 a.m. A thorough investigation by authorities, including an extensive search and sweep of the plant utilizing bomb sniffing canines, turned up no suspicious devices.
MAP auto production will resume at 6:30 p.m. today (March 30).
Honda is cooperating with authorities in this on-going criminal investigation. Additional details about the incident cannot be shared at this time.
