Former Ohio State Wrestler, MMA Fighter Kevin Randleman Dies From Pneumonia

One of the most-celebrated wrestlers in the history of Ohio State University has passed away.

One of the most-celebrated wrestlers in the history of Ohio State University has passed away.

Kevin Randleman died at his California home on Thursday at the age of 44.  His family says the MMA fighter died from complications of pneumonia.

Randleman was a three-time All-American and two-time NCAA champion at Ohio State in the early 1990s. 

He went on to make his MMA debut in 1996 and had 19 career wins and 5 knockouts, according to MMA enthusiast website Sherdog.

After MMA, Randleman became a professional wrestler for several different companies from 2002 to 2007.

He leaves behind two sons and a daughter.

The Randleman family released the following statement about Kevin's death:

"With saddened hearts, the Randleman family confirms the passing of Kevin “The Monster” Randleman.  Behind the name, was a gentle soul & loyal friend whom will be missed by many who loved him beyond the cage.  The Ohio State University, UFC, MMA, & Sandusky, Ohio communities share in the loss of Kevin’s passing.  While traveling on business, Kevin became ill & un-exectedly passed due to complications from pneumonia.  Kevin leaves behind a wife & four extraordinary children to share his legacy with the world who mourns his passing.  Life without “The Monster” will never be the same. "
