COLUMBUS, Ohio — Gov. Mike DeWine announced he was diagnosed with COVID-19 Tuesday morning after experiencing cold-like symptoms.
According to a release from the governor's office, he started experiencing mild symptoms on Monday, which worsened slightly into the night.
The governor is taking the anti-retroviral therapy, Paxlovid, as advised by his doctor. He is set to work from home the rest of the week.
The virus has been on the rise since June thanks to the predominant COVID-19 variant, KP.3.11.
COVID-19 cases and wastewater detections of the virus in Ohio since late June as well. The governor's office says hospitalizations have risen modestly across the country, but not in Ohio.
