COLUMBUS, Ohio — Most school districts in central Ohio have moved away from requiring masks in school buildings and on buses as COVID-19 continues to subside in the state.
Columbus City Schools is the latest school district to remove its mask mandate. Hilliard, Westerville, Upper Arlington and several others removed theirs last month.
Below is a list of central Ohio districts and their mask policies, COVID-19 resources and other guidelines. The links also include announcements from the districts, including updates on policy changes, transportation issues and school closures.

COVID-19 mask policies and links to school district's guidelines
- Bexley City Schools: Masks are optional, not required
- Big Walnut: Masks are optional, not required
- Bloom-Carroll Local School District
- Buckeye Valley Local Schools: Masks are optional, not required
- Columbus City Schools: Masks are optional. Masking recommendations may change based on COVID-19 community levels.
- Canal Winchester Schools: Masks are optional, not required
- Delaware City Schools: Masks are optional, but encouraged
- Dublin City Schools: Masks are optional
- Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools: Masks are optional
- Grandview Heights Schools: Masks are optional
- Granville Exempted Village Schools: Masks are optional, not required
- Groveport Madison Schools: Masks are required
- Hilliard City Schools: Masks will be optional for all students and staff.

- Licking Heights Local Schools: Masks are optional, not required
- London City Schools: Masks are optional, not required
- Madison-Plains Local Schools: Masks are optional, but encouraged for unvaccinated students and staff
- Marion City Schools: Students and staff are advised to wear masks at all times while indoors, except eating and drinking
- Marysville Schools: Masks are optional, not required
- Mount Vernon City Schools: Masks are optional, not required
- New Albany-Plain Local Schools: Masks are optional, not required
- Newark City Schools : Masks are optional, but encouraged
- Olentangy Schools: Masks are optional, not required
- Pickerington Local Schools: Masks are optional, but strongly recommended. Masks are also optional on school transportation.
- Plain Local Schools: Masks are optional, but highly recommended
- Reynoldsburg City Schools: Masks are optional
- South-Western City School District: Masks are optional in school buildings Masks are also optional on school transportation.
- Southwest Licking School District: Masks are optional and mandates are decided by individual schools
- Teays Valley Local Schools: Masks are optional for all students and staff while in the school buildings.
- Upper Arlington Schools: District's mask requirement remains in effect through Feb. 27
- Westerville City Schools: Masks are optional but strongly encouraged
- Whitehall City Schools: All students, staff are required to wear masks in school buildings
- Worthington Schools: Masks are strongly encouraged, but not required
COVID-19 mask policies for universities
Ohio State University: Indoor mask mandate in place, more information to be released "in the coming days."
Ohio University: Indoor mask mandate in place only in classrooms, laboratories, studios and clinical settings as well as on-campus transportation regardless of COVID-19 community level.
Columbus State Community College: If City of Columbus lifts the citywide mandate, Columbus State will lift its mandate on March 14.
Franklin University: Campus will resume normal operations on Monday, March 7. Masks will be optional.
Capital University: Mask requirement on Bexley campus lifts after March 4. Law school campus mandate will lift on March 7 after city gets rid of citywide mandate.
