The head of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is stepping down.
Colonel David Dicken announced on Wednesday that he will leave his position as patrolsuperintendent and step down to the rank of captain, 10 Investigates' Paul Aker reported.
A patrol spokeswoman later confirmed the report.
Major Christopher Minter will lead the patrol on an interim basis, sources told 10Investigates.
Dicken took over the embattled agency in January. In June, Ohio Inspector General TomCharles characterized Dicken as dishonest in his testimony regarding a canceled drug stinginvolving inmates working at Gov. Ted Strickland's residence.
Word of Dicken's decision came one day after it was reported that Charles would take over ashead of the Department of Public Safety, which oversees the patrol.
